Unilever is launching a new wellness tea line for its signature brand Lipton, according to the company.
The new teas will include essential oils and herbs and claim to have health and wellness qualities.
The new Lipton Wellness Tea Line will include five varieties: Stress Less, Detox, Sooth your Tummy, Bedtime Bliss and Daily Support.
To celebrate the launch, Lipton is partnering with Tara Stiles, founder and owner of Strala Yoga.
“We know we’re all looking for ways to take care of ourselves,” said George Hamilton, tea director at Unilever.
“Essential oils, supplements and herbs are often part of wellness routines, and now we’ve found a way to incorporate them that’s as simple as brewing a tea bag.”
The move comes as part of a wider strategy by Unilever to target the wellness and herbal tea trend.
The global tea market is steadily growing and is expected to reach a production volume of 7.2mn tons by 2020.
Consumers are also becoming much more health-conscious, opting for healthier and cleaner food and drive purchases.
Wellness teas have benefited from this trend, growing more quickly than the overall tea market.
This month, Unilever also acquired ethical tea brand Pukka Herbal teas, as the multinational company said it wished to expand and strengthen its existing tea business by “addressing a gap in their portfolio.”
