Is a business you know ahead of the pack when it comes to employee and workplace safety, with world class training programs and a manufacturing facility design that puts food safety first? Do you know a research and development team tirelessly working toward improving systems and processes for a safer and more hygienic workplace environment? Is there an innovator out there working toward technological advancements to improve food safety in manufacturing, packaging, or product development? Then it might be time to submit a nomination for the 2016 NSF International Food Safety Leadership Awards.

Today public health-focused group NSF International put out its first call for nominations for the 2016 Food Safety Leadership Awards (FSLA). With a deadline of Friday, March 18, 2016 there is plenty of time to consider exemplary operators, manufacturers, public health officials, academics, researchers and innovators in the field of foodservice. A statement from NSF International details the award categories for consideration:

  • The FSLA Training and Education Award recognizes exceptional academic and training programs.
  • The FSLA Food Safety Innovation Award recognizes outstanding breakthroughs in categories such as equipment design, packaging innovation, product development, research advances, system improvement and technology breakthroughs
  • Nominations for a special Lifetime Achievement award are also being accepted.

The statement also notes that nominees will be in good company alongside past winners including US Foods, Earthbound Farms, Publix Super Markets, Sodexo, the Coca-Cola Company and many more. Winners will ultimately be selected by an independent panel, and will be announced on May 12, 2016 at the Food Safety Summit in Rosemont, Illinois.
