The Coca-Cola Company has announced that it has agreed to buy US-based soft drink brand Moxie.
The world’s largest beverage company bought the soft drink band from its bottling partner Coca-Cola of Northern New England.
Moxie, the official drink of the US state of Maine, is more than a hundred years old.
The American soft drink was created in 1884, two years before Coca-Cola.
The Coca-Cola Company said that the drink will continue to be bottled in Northern New Hampshire and it will become part of the Coca-Cola Company’s venturing and emerging brands.
Lauren Thompson, a spokeswoman for the Coca-Cola company, told USA Today that the company will “work to protect the heritage and regional culture of the brand."
The move will also help to bring Moxie to a wider audience.
