Consumer demand for high quality fresh produce is on the rise, and citrus fruits—popular for their versatility, health benefits, and most of all flavor—are among the most highly valued crops in the world. While citrus fruits only thrive in particular warm and subtropical climates, these climates appear in regions across the globe from Brazil to China, making lemons and limes and oranges a massive global industry. This August, representatives from all of these regions will be converging in Florida for Citrus Expo 2015.

Organized by AgNet Media and Citrus Industry magazine, and hosted in one of the world’s largest citrus growing regions, Citrus Expo is a trade show that has been bringing industry professionals together for more than two decades. This year’s show will feature an exhibition hall plus three half-day seminar sessions focusing on a range of topics from planting tools to harvesting observations.

According to Southeast AgNet, one important seminar this year will be a discussion panel on Day One led by growers who have seen positive results in the fight against Huanglongbing (HLB) or citrus greening disease. Kelly Morgan, associate professor with University of Florida’s Soil and Water Sciences department, organized the panel and discussed its purpose with AgNet:

“We have selected very good growers that have a track record of working well with their trees and promoting the health of their trees, and they will lead the discussion,” said Morgan. “All growers should plan to attend this discussion. It will be very practical and very important to the industry, to get information out there on what is actually working to improve tree health with certain growers, and to be able to discuss that among their peers.”

Citrus Expo 2015 will take place August 19-20 at the Lee Civic Center in North Ft. Myers, Florida.
