Pizza Hut may have welcomed a total menu overhaul in 2014, but 2015 is an even more momentous year for the pizza chain’s old school fans. This year marks the 20th anniversary of Pizza Hut’s stuffed crust pizza and the brand is offering four lucky fans a chance at a million dollars, plus half-off pizza on April 9 for everyone else. All you have to do is land a shot on a basketball court. Easy, right?
All right, the shot is from half court. Okay, and you have to shoot it backward. It apparently has to do with stuffed crust pizza encouraging consumers to start eating their pizza backward, let’s just roll with it.
If you think you have the chops to make the shot, now’s the time to speak up. Fans ages 18 and over throughout the contiguous United States have until March 29 to fill out a brief registration form for a chance to participate in the Half-Court Shot contest event, which will take place on April 5 at Butler University’s Hinkle Fieldhouse arena in Indianapolis, IN. Three contestants will be chosen from the forms, but if you weren’t picked during the internet round there’s still hope: a fourth contestant will be chosen on the spot for their shot at $1 million and pizza discount glory.
If someone lands a shot backwards from halfway across the court, they win a million and everyone else in the United States wins stuffed crust pizza 50 percent off on April 9. But hey, if none of the four chosen ones make it, at least the chain is still offering stuffed crust pizza for a limited time anniversary price of $9.99. That’s still a win, even if no trick shots are involved.
