Delta Hotels, one of Marriott International’s North American hotel brands, has officially entered the Asia-Pacific market with the opening of Delta hotels by Marriott Shanghai Baoshan in China.

The debut also kicks off the hotel giant’s plan to expand Delta's global portfolio to 66 properties by the end of 2018.

“We are very excited to introduce the first Delta Hotels by Marriott to the Asia Pacific region,” said Mike Fulkerson, vice president, Brand and Marketing, Asia Pacific at Marriott International.

“Delta Hotels is a premium brand with a clear brand ethos of ‘Simple Made Perfect’. The Delta Hotels by Marriott Shanghai Boshan delivers on this promise by providing a full complement of streamlined services in a simple, straightforward way.”

The new 339-room hotel is owned and managed by Shanghai Baolian Real Estate.

It is located close to downtown Shanghai and the Wusongkou International Cruise Terminal.

Marriott purchased Delta Hotels in 2015 from the British Columbia Investment Management Corporation.

Maryland-based Marriott is now the largest hotel company in the world following its acquisition of Starwood Hotels and Resorts last year.
