COVID-19: African Union and FAO Ministerial Meeting

ROME, 14 April 2020 / PRN Africa / -- The African Union and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) will host African agriculture ministers for a virtual meeting on Thursday 16 April (2pm-5pm Rome time) to discuss the implications of theCOVID-19 pandemic on food security and nutrition in Africa.

The virtual meeting is jointly convened by FAO Director-General QU Dongyu and the Chair of the African Union Specialized Technical Committee on Agriculture, Rural Development, Water and Environment and Minister for Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development of South Africa Angela Thoko Didiza, and moderated by African Union Commissioner for Rural Economy and Agriculture, Josefa Sacko.

The participants aim to agree on a political declaration at the meeting's conclusion.
