NEW YORK, March 20, 2020 /PRNewswire/ -- United by a shared belief in the power of food to nourish communities across the United States, both companies felt a tremendous need to help those less fortunate during this uncertain time, and a heightened responsibility to do more.

Freshly and Nestlé partnered with Meals on Wheels America specifically to help address the challenges faced by our elderly neighbors, one of the most at-risk communities amid COVID-19.

"At Freshly, we understand the comfort that comes with knowing you have your meals planned, cooked fresh, and delivered to your doorstep so I knew we needed to help.  We want to make sure people served by Meals on Wheels still receive this vital service too when they need it most," said Michael Wystrach, Freshly's Founder and CEO.

"As this crisis continues to disrupt the lives of our employees, consumers and communities, this is one of the ways we're mobilizing relief efforts across the US, and around the world to help," said Steve Presley, Chairman and CEO of Nestlé USA. "I'm proud of the collective efforts across Nestlé and the industry to extend our support to communities in this time of need."

At times like these, Freshly, Nestlé, and Meals on Wheels are standing together to provide access to safe and healthy food delivery and distribution across America. For decades, Meals on Wheels has been working on the front lines to improve the quality of life of the seniors they serve. And at this time, Freshly and Nestlé could not be prouder to support their COVID-19 Response Fund, which is helping local communities across the U.S. to meet the increased demand for nutritious meals that can keep our seniors safe and healthy.

"Freshly and Nestlé's extremely generous joint donation of $500,000 will help to provide certainty and much-needed support during this unprecedented time," said Ellie Hollander, President and CEO, Meals on Wheels America. "Local Meals on Wheels programs in communities across the country are working tirelessly to deliver a vital lifeline to our most at-risk Americans, and this generous contribution is an incredible example of how concerned companies can step up for seniors during this extraordinary time of need."

Both companies are encouraging consumers and employees with the means, to donate what they can to the fund, and share with their networks, to amplify the impact. Join Freshly and Nestle and help support during this time – donate at https://www.mealsonwheelsamerica.org/FreshlyNestle.
