Chipotle Mexican Grill is launching a new accelerator programme that seeks to support and scale startups focused on alternative farming and food waste.

Chipotle Mexican Grill is launching a new accelerator programme that seeks to support and scale startups focused on alternative farming and food waste.

Sponsored by the company's foundation, the Chipotle Aluminaries Project Project will help mentor applicants that specialise in alternative farming or growing systems, agricultural technology, food waste and recovery, and plant and alternative products.

Beginning on 12th September, the accelerator will last seven months and will fund growth-stage companies “with a shared vision to cultivate a better world.”

Mentors will include Top Chef star Richard Balise as well as entrepreneur and restaurant owner Kimbal Musk, the brother of Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk and board member of Chipotle.
