Dr. Pepper Snapple Optimizes Supply Chain with New Distribution Center

Dr. Pepper Snapple Group is adjusting and optimizing its reach within the United States, with the addition of a new distribution center in West Dallas. The Plano, TX-based soft drink company has signed a long-term lease on a 377,000 square foot industrial building currently under construction in an industrial complex in west Oak Cliff.

According to Dallas News, it was first reported on Wednesday that an undisclosed “leading company in the food and beverage industry” had signed on to rent the space. Later in the week, it was confirmed that this company in question is in fact Dr. Pepper Snapple Group. According to the company, this new distribution center could take the place of a current distribution center nearby:

“We’re looking at relocating an existing local operation, our Dallas regional distribution center, to that space,” said Dr Pepper’s Chris Barnes. “Currently, that operation is nearby at Pipestone Road.”

According to builders in charge of this new construction project, its attributes make it the ideal space for a tenant like Dr. Pepper Snapple Group:

“Our site was well-suited for our customer’s requirements for a single-tenant facility with a secure truck court offering efficient highway access,” David Harker, First Industrial’s executive vice president, said in a prepared statement. “We are pleased to earn their business and help serve their supply chain needs.”

We’re looking forward to seeing what other attributes this new structure will feature – with Dr. Pepper Snapple Group’s recently strengthened commitment to waste reduction and corporate social responsibility, we may see another LEED certified distribution center like the company’s distribution hubs in Victorville, CA and Plano, TX.
