Whitbread has launched a new restaurant called the Cookhouse and Pub in Oldbury, West Midlands.

The hospitality giant behind Costa, Premier Inn and Brewers Fayre aims to roll out the concept and is on track to open locations in Holystone in Tyneside, Ripley in Derbyshire and Kilmarnock over the upcoming months.

Cookhouse and Pub is described as “an informal, all-day restaurant, with the relaxed vibe and affordability of a pub.”

The Oldbury location features a bar, large open kitchen, solo dining booths, large feature tables and semi-private dining areas.

“We feel this is a new, bold and revolutionary concept in the pub restaurant market which we hope will be welcomed with open arms,” said Sarah Tinsley, head of strategy and innovation for Whitbread Restaurants.

The new restaurant and pub concept will serve freshly prepared ‘grazers’ and oven-fired flatbreads, as well as grills, lighter options, brunches, pub classics, Sunday roasts and desserts.

The drink list will offer a range of craft beers, ciders, cask ales as well as draught wines and cocktails.

The move comes shortly after Whitbread saw half-year revenue growth of 7.4% to GBP£1.7bn.
